Brief overview of the Power Hour and introduction to speakers.
The culture you build determines the people who stay. Nonprofit work is fueled by passion — but passion without joy leads to burnout. The Joy Advantage invites leaders to reimagine success through energy, connection, and care. Dr. Tiffany Slater, Chief Joy Officer of HR TailorMade, shares how joy functions as both a retention superpower and a performance strategy. In this engaging session, participants will uncover what truly keeps great people engaged, inspired, and loyal to the mission. Joy isn’t fluff — it’s the foundation of endurance, innovation, and impact. Because the culture you build determines the people who stay — and the future you create.

Learn how to shift from squeezing in self-care when you are exhausted to weaving it into how you think, act, and show up at work, so you can focus more easily, manage your emotions with steadiness, and navigate people challenges with less reactivity and more control.

Founder/CEO, How Men Cry
Jordan "Dxtr" Holmes was raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Jordan's curious mind led him to become a jack of all trades: scientist, engineer, musician, spoken word artist, and entrepreneur. After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Material Science Engineering and meeting his mentor, Dr. Nikki Giovanni, he relocated to Chicago in 2014. There, he began his performance career as Dxtr Spits, a witty, impactful, and energized lyricist.
Jordan likes to think of himself as the Jay-Z of public speaking, minus a billion dollars. He combines his creative and technical talents in everything he does. He's a dedicated meditator and lifelong student of mindfulness, something like a modern, younger, and partially more attractive Yoda. He lives by the motto, "Live life like an experiment; you cannot control what happens to you, but you can control the product you become," and explores experimental themes in his multi-sensory performances. His a cappella spoken word and keynotes have brought crowds to tears while teaching deep, inspirational life lessons.
Jordan has been featured in Forbes, NPR, The Chicago Tribune, and more. He most recently launched a movement called "How Men Cry," which is changing the narrative around men's relationship to vulnerability and destigmatizing mental health conversations as a whole, with the intention of making compassion contagious.

What if the key to sustainable self-care isn't another strategy; it’s community? This closing keynote will show you what happens when we stop carrying the weight of burnout alone. You'll discover why talking with others about self-care might be what finally helps you make it a priority.
1. Self-care isn't selfish, it's communal: You'll discover how talking with others about your self-care creates permission and accountability for your own well-being practices.
2. You're not alone in your burnout: You'll see that the patterns you thought were your personal failures are actually shared experiences across the nonprofit sector—and that collective awareness is the first step toward collective healing.
3. Community conversation is a practical tool for sustainability: You'll leave understanding how creating intentional spaces to talk about self-care and burnout can become part of your organization's approach to preventing burnout.
